Oozing with Pride

This post probably should be about something I'm just tickled about that one of my kids did.

Nope. It's about me. About what I did.

Take a look:

And now, the story (because I do love to tell a story, especially when it features yours truly)

So, once upon a time, a friend gave me this chair. We loved it. (HooHobbers makes it) But apparently, it couldn't handle the wear-and-tear from her five children plus two of mine. When the denim seat portion tore, the frame was still good, so I contacted them to see how much just the fabric would be. $23. Sigh. I just can't spend money sometimes. Even knowing all the happiness that $23 would bring my children, I just couldn't do it. So, the fabric hanging from the door handle in the above picture is what I had to work with.

I'm no seamstress, as you know, and well, I am a slightly terrified of projects. I did notice that we had some jeans that were in the Goodwill pile, so I cut them up as best I could to match the original torn fabric. Easy enough. Then, I pulled out my sewing machine and set everything out on my kitchen table. Easy enough

This was last Wednesday, though, so for the last six days I have hemmed and hawed and ignored and stared and been generally flustered by the very thought of sitting down to work it out. Is it worth my time? Did I cut it right? Will it fit when I'm done sewing it? Will the (bleep)in sewing machine cooperate?

I give you a resounding "YES!" to all of the above questions. Although the sewing machine gave me some grief, it was to be expected and was nothing insurmountable. It was so worth it. I don't even care if the kids never sit in it again. I DID IT! I can hardly fit my head into my kitchen right now I'm so proud of little ole me.

I did it.
